Health IT Learning Center
A hallmark of the UT Austin Health IT program is a one-of-a kind Health IT Learning Center located in the Norman Hackerman Building, a science research and teaching facility in the center of campus. In this state-of-the art facility, students are able to develop hands-on skills with five electronic health record (EHR) software systems, and an advanced telemedicine system. The hardware, software and other equipment in the facility were donated by the program’s generous industry supporters. Using guided exercises, students explore the usability and functionality of major ambulatory EHR systems, and learn medical practice workflow and processes redesign in a mock ambulatory clinic – “The Longhorn Clinic.”
