MCDB labs have access to state-of-the-art facilities for DNA and protein sequencing, peptide synthesis, mass spectrometry, protein purification and analysis, DNA microarrays, X-ray crystallography, microscopy and imaging, and animal facilities including a service for gene knockouts in mice. A wide range of equipment is available for use in core facilities.
Research Areas
The MCDB faculty have research programs in three main areas: cell biology, developmental biology, and plant molecular biology. There is considerable overlap in these areas, with collaborations within MCDB labs and with other labs at UT and beyond.
