Each year in the spring the MCDB retreat is held at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. The retreat includes a keynote address, as well as shorter talks and posters from students and postdocs from MCDB labs. The keynote speaker for 2012 was Maria Barna from UC San Francisco, who described some of her recent work on mouse development. Previous keynote speakers include:
