Seven MGM faculty members received more than $1.3 million in funding for research projects through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Funding Act of 2009: 

Faculty who were awarded funding for these research projects, include Philip Tucker (project title: A Transcription Factor within Lipid Rafts Modulates B Cell Signaling via the BCR ); Robert Krug (project title: Replication of influenza virus); Makkuni Jayaram (Mechanisms of Site-Specific Recombination); Alan Lambowitz (Involvement of Proteins in Splicing Group I and Group II Introns); Arlen Johnson (Maturation of the Large Ribosomal Subunit in Yeast); Rasika Harshey (Swarming as a Model for Surface-Sensing in Salmonella Typhimurium); Shelley Payne (Iron Transport and its Role in Pathogenesis of Vibrio Cholerae), plus one joint project by Shelley Payne and Arturo De Lozanne of MCDB (Interaction Between Vibrio Cholerae and Dictylostelium Discoideum).
