Biological Sciences continues to be the most popular major at the University, with over 3,700 declared majors. In addition to educating biology majors, the School has the responsibility for offering courses for students in other disciplines, such as Allied Health, Biochemistry, Engineering, Nursing and Pharmacy. The School teaches approximately 12,000 undergraduate students per semester.

The research interests of the faculty are very diverse - ranging from the study of organisms and their behavior to defining the molecular basis of how genes and their products function. Here are some of the areas in which our faculty are conducting research: Organized research units

The School continues to be active in bringing biology to the community by participating in Explore UT, Parent's Day, Science Fun Day and lectures at the LBJ Wildflower Center.

All of these activities depend on the support of friends of our school. Gifts to fund undergraduate or graduate level scholarships or to support undergraduate research will greatly enhance the School's activities.
