June 2008 Dr. Marvin Whiteley received a 2008 Investigators in the Pathogenesis of Infectious Disease (PATH) award from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund for his work to understand the interaction between human hosts and infectious bacteria.


May 2008 Dr. Tanya Paull is named a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator, joining 55 of the nation's most creative biomedical scientists in this year's group.


April 2007 Dr. Shelley Payne was one of 5 recipients of the Natural Science Council's Faculty Service Awards.  This is a student nominated, student selected award, reflecting Dr. Payne's excellence in teaching.




May 2006
Dr. Jaquelin Dudley received the Distinguished Research Career Award from the Center for Retrovirus Research at the Ohio State University.  The Center for Retrovirus Research Distinguished Research Career Award annually recognizes original and significant research contributions to the field of retrovirus biology
 


The new NMS (Neural Molecular Science Building) is complete and houses many of the Microbiology professors.
