The UT Health IT Certificate Program was selected to participate in the "Healthy Ideas Showcase" hosted by the Bipartisan Policy Center and Seton Healthcare Family on October 7 from 9am to 2pm. The day-long event, featuring national and local health care leaders, will highlight significant progress in health professional workforce development and new models of care enabled by health information technology in the state of Texas. The Shalom Health Ministry Clinic in Houston, Texas, is a small nonprofit that runs on paper, making it difficult for the clinic to monitor the health of its diabetes patients and track new patients. But the clinic may be beginning to enter the 21st century in health information technology as the result of help from students in a Recovery Act-funded health information technology (IT) training program at the University of Texas at Austin.
