We hope to better understand transcriptional regulation of lymphoid and cardiovascular development and function in normal and diseased mice and humans.  Ongoing projects can be grouped operationally under four transcription factor families (ARID, BCL11, FOXp and SMYD) that we previously cloned and characterized.  We employ a number of genomic, biochemical and genetic approaches to test how these factors work in isolated cells or in the intact animal. We want to know what goes wrong with them to promote leukemia or cardiac birth defects.
